History

FC Elite was formed in 2013 by Mario. A qualified football coach who has previously worked for Aston Villa in the Community and travelled over to America to coach ‘Soccer.’ He has an array of footballing qualifications and passed his FA Level 1 way back in 2009. Since then he has studied in an array of disciplines. He is a qualified Futsal and Goalkeeping coach and is soon to complete his FA Youth Module Award, which is part of his UEFA B development. Mario has worked as a Professional Sports Coach for a Birmingham based coaching company called Evolve. He has learnt many skills over the past few years through coaching with FC Elite and running his own business.

His vision for the club is very ambitious. The club has done and been part of many successful projects and campaigns in its short existence. The club strives to grow every year. Currently having two men’s teams and two youth teams, the clubs goal is to add, two new teams every season. The club also has visions of growing a coaching/volunteer network of local people. To support and grow with the club. Mario says ‘help and support is always key to the success of an organisation. A grass roots football club is no different. We need dedicated players, dedicated parents, dedicated coaches and a dedicated well ran club to be successful.’

The club started off with one women’s team. Through a difficult first season, Mario decided to leave an existing club and set up FC Elite. As Chairman, he had a vision and wanted to make sure he achieved this with high standards. The first season as FC Elite Ladies saw the club gain promotion to the Birmingham County Womens League. At the end of the season Mario decided to start a men’s team, which played in the Festival League. The men’s first season promised to be a tough and hard one, with the team not performing to its full potential. Two years later and the men’s teams are performing better, with the ladies team taking a break as player recruitment in the women’s game is very challenging.

The club is looking to be a spectacle club in Birmingham! A club, which prides itself on fun, respectful competition and positive social change through sport. Young Players will always have somewhere to go to play football and let off some steam. Gifted players have the opportunity to further their playing careers, with local professional clubs. Other players will have opportunities to develop and grow as coaches and young mentors. FC Elite aims to be a well established club and is looking to have its own base in the near future. Having a home ground will allow the club to develop the site with storage and changing facilities. This is one of the clubs biggest ambitions.
